What Actually Happens at a Still Ground Retreat?

So you’re thinking about booking a Still Ground Retreat, but you don’t quite know what to expect. We totally get it. Investing in yourself is a big deal, and the "unknown" can be a little intimidating. You might be wondering: Is it just yoga? Am I going to be forced to share my deepest secrets with strangers? What actually happens between the meals?
At a Still Ground Retreat, we don’t believe in rigid, boot-camp schedules. Instead, we follow a gentle "unfolding." We’ve designed a four-day journey that moves you from the high-alert hum of daily life back down into your own skin. While we always leave room for the magic of the moment to change our plans, here is a hypothetical look at what your four days of transformation might look like.

Day 1: The Landing
Theme: Who Am I? The first day is all about the transition. Most guests arrive with their "work brain" still spinning. Our goal is to help you shed your professional roles and personal responsibilities the moment you walk through the door.
Arrival & Welcome: You’ll settle into your space and take a deep breath of fresh air. No titles, no "elevator pitches"—just you.
Somatic Grounding: We’ll lead a gentle session of pandiculation (natural, slow stretching) to signal to your nervous system that the "rush" is over.
The "Un-Bio" Journaling: A favorite exercise where we write out our professional identities and then mindfully cross out the tasks and titles, looking for the human being underneath the "doing."
Candlelight Yoga Nidra: We end the night with "yogic sleep," a guided meditation that helps you begin to pay back your sleep debt and settle into your first night of deep rest.
Day 2: The Audit
Theme: What’s Draining Me? Now that you’ve landed, we look at what you’ve been carrying. This day is about identifying "energy leaks" and physically shaking off stored stress.
Morning Flow: A slow-motion vinyasa session focused on the hips and lower back—areas where we typically store "survival mode" tension.
Somatic Release Workshop: We’ll practice movement techniques like shaking and pulsing. It might feel a little silly at first, but it is a powerful way to discharge fight-or-flight energy from the body.
Mindful Lunch: A period of silent reflection over a nourishing meal, allowing you to tune into your own thoughts without the distraction of small talk.
The Audit Circle: An afternoon session focused on identifying which habits and boundaries back home are draining your battery.
Day 3/4: The Integration
Theme: Clarity & Intention In our final days, we focus on the "carry-over." We want the feeling you’ve found here to stay with you long after you’ve flown back home.
Morning Celebration Flow: A practice centered on gratitude and strength, celebrating the clarity you’ve gained over the weekend.
The Intentional Values Map: A transformative guided journaling session where you’ll create an aligned, realistic plan for pivotal changes to implement in your "real life."
Closing Circle: A final group reflection to honor the journey and the community we’ve built.
Departure: You’ll head home not just "rested," but with a clearer sense of who you are when the world isn't demanding something from you.
Space for the Soul to Breathe
While we have a guided flow to our days, a Still Ground Retreat is never about a packed schedule or "rushing to relax." We intentionally leave white space in the afternoons for you to follow your own compass.
Depending on the season and our location, your free time might look like:
Poolside Stillness: Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is lie by the water with a book you’ve been meaning to read for a year.
Beach Wanderings: We often take advantage of our proximity to the coast for salt-air walks, where the rhythm of the waves does the grounding for you.
Local Excursions: For those who find peace in movement, we offer optional trips into the surrounding nature, whether it’s a jump into to a hidden cenote or a quiet stroll through local botanical paths.
This is your time. If your body tells you that you need a nap instead of a hike, we encourage you to listen.
